Do you ever wish you could find a drink that's equally healthy + delicious? We assure you, it exists and it's in the form of leaves, steeped into water, and sweetened (optionally). Guessed it yet? Fine, I'll just tell you.
Even if you think you don't like tea, there are so many kinds and varieties, there's bound to be one you enjoy. Assuming we're all tea lovers here, why don't we just let you guys know some awesome things about tea that you might not have known.
1. Tea has < caffeine than coffee.
You may just think it's a normal caffeinated beverage, as any. However, that's not the case. Herbal teas do not have any caffeine and traditional blends have up to 50% less caffeine than a typical cup of coffee. So...maybe you do need a boost in the morning, but maybe not one that keeps you jittery and awake for longer than you need to be.
2. Heart Healthy
Tea is tested among medical professionals a lot, but this fact reigns true the most: Tea is heart healthy! There is a lot of medical literature out there all about this study (feel free to read up on it, it's very interesting!) and you can clearly see a decline in heart illnesses with tea drinkers. Specifically green tea and more than 1 or 2 cups. The more the merrier!
3. Smile more!
While drinking tea, your mouth changes pH levels, making it more proactive in fighting off cavities (always good, right?). Beyond that, tea is said to be one of the FEW drinks that doesn't erode enamel away (again, very good).
4. Sick of water?
This one blows our minds! Basically...tea is calorie free! Wait...okay...not exactly. Only *unadultered* tea is calorie free (still, normal tea is decently calorie friendly). This means that if you buy completely organic tea, you can have a very versatile beverage at your fingertips at all times. You don't have to drink boring water 24/7 if you want some variety in your drink! There's hundreds of different flavors, you can have it hot or cold and you can put different kinds of sweeteners in it to spice up your day (of course, this will add calories, but that's okay...we won't tell).
5. Try this!
Maybe you're sick of your jasmine tea with honey??? There are tons of ways to sweeten you tea. Ready to be blown away?
- Try cinnamon sticks in your tea in the fall for an extra kick
- It probably sounds crazy, but a pinch of salt in your tea can enhance sweet flavors
- Put some cream or milk in your tea (the British do it, so why shouldn't we?)
- Raw honey is the best way to sweeten your tea (IMO), so why not go with VEGAN honey?! There's tons of options at your local health food store and I promise, it tastes like the real thing!
6. Whoaaaaa...calm down.
The day can hold a lot of ups and downs for everyone, so remembering that each night you can crawl into bed or on the couch with a hot mug full of sweet tea is almost worth the busy day. It's known to be a natural healer and can really help calm you down before bed. If you have a hard time falling asleep, try it! Especially if it's chamomile.
Our favorite tea is definitely anything jasmine with sugar crystals as a sweetener. It's always delicious, no matter what else is in it.
Hope you all enjoyed some information about one of the greatest drinks out there!
